There’s something so special about documenting the very first moments of a growing family. This sweet pregnancy announcement session at Lakeside Park in Lakeview, Michigan was one I won’t forget anytime soon. I've offered free pregnancy announcement sessions for nearly 2 years, but Erin was the first mama to take me up on it, and I'm so excited she did! Even though the weather threw us some curveballs, we had a great time together and got some really sweet shots of this family's huge milestone.
A Rainy Day Pregnancy Announcement
When we arrived at the park, the skies opened up with a full-on thunderstorm. It poured rain nearly the entire time, but that didn’t stop this beautiful family from celebrating their exciting news. We took shelter under a gazebo, which ended up creating a cozy feel for the photos. Sometimes unexpected weather adds a little chaos, but nothing we can't work around!
Including Family in Pregnancy Announcement Photos
One of my favorite parts about this shoot was that the entire family joined in. Everyone wanted to be part of the excitement, and we made sure to capture plenty of photos with the ultrasound picture. The joy on their faces was contagious, and I loved seeing how much support and love surrounds this baby already! I always encourage mamas to include the whole family in at least a couple of the announcement shots, because it's a family celebration!
Sweet Details That Made the Session Special
Their little boy completely stole the show with his adorable “Best Bro” shirt. It was such a thoughtful touch that added personality to the photos, and perfectly highlighted his new role as big brother. I encourage families to include little details like this, because they make the images even more meaningful to look back on.
