Introduction

Running a small business is no small feat, and when it comes to selling online the way your products look can make all the difference. High-quality product photography helps build trust, tells your brand story, and ultimately drives more sales. If you're considering hiring me to photograph your products, I wanted to share about the process so you can know what you can expect every step of the way.

But first, I want to acknowledge that trusting a photographer with your brand identity is a not an easy decision. That is why I offer discounted trial sessions for first-time clients. With a trial session, you can see first-hand what it's like to work with me before making a hefty investment.

So with that in mind, once you've booked your trial session here's what you can expect.

1. Initial Consultation

The first thing that will happen after you book your trial session is I'll send a confirmation email with a questionnaire attached. This questionnaire is where I learn more about your brand, your products, and your goals with this photo shoot. I want to understand the heart of your business — who your ideal customer is, what your brand personality feels like, and how these images will be used (your website, social media, packaging, etc.).

We'll cover:

  • Your product line
  • Your aesthetic and visual inspiration
  • Preferred styling or props
  • Location (studio vs. lifestyle setting)
  • Your deadline and deliverables
  • Model requests
  • Video add-on options

This step sets the tone for the entire project and ensures we’re on the same page creatively and logistically.

2. Creative Planning

After our consultation, I’ll put together a simple plan. Think of it as a mini mood board and shot list. This helps us stay aligned on the visual direction and ensures we capture all the images you need, whether it's clean white background shots, styled lifestyle photos, or flat lays.

If models are required, you have the are able to give input on what you need -- age, gender, and ethnicity. You're also able to pick your own models for an extra fee.

You’re welcome to be as involved or hands-off as you like at this stage. Some clients love to collaborate closely, while others are happy to hand things over and let me take the reins.

3. Shipping or Drop-Off

If we're not local, you'll send your products to my studio safely packaged and ready to be photographed. If you’re nearby, we can coordinate a drop-off. I’ll keep everything secure and organized throughout the shoot.

4. The Photo Shoot

This is where the magic happens. I carefully style and photograph your products with attention to lighting, angles, and detail. Whether it’s a cozy lifestyle scene or a crisp, ecommerce shot, I approach each product with care and consistency to reflect your brand’s unique identity.

5. Editing & Delivery

Once the shoot is complete, I’ll select the best images and professionally edit them for color, consistency, and polish. You’ll receive a curated gallery of web-sized files, ready to upload to your website, social platforms, or online marketing materials.

Need resizing or alternate formats (like square crops or web-optimized versions)? Just let me know during the planning phase, and I’ll make sure you get exactly what you need!

6. Optional Add-Ons

Depending on your needs, I also offer:

  • Stop-motion or short video clips
  • Seasonal or themed shoots for social media
  • Ongoing monthly or quarterly content packages

I love working with small businesses on a regular basis — it gives your brand visual consistency and helps you always have fresh content at your fingertips. This is why I offer a quarterly subscription for a great price.
